Event Archive - CIMA Music Mission To Japan 2012
Mission objectives are to assist companies currently building relationships in Asia to strengthen those ties; to make new contacts and to create defined business opportunities for the export of Canadian music products and artists. Potential revenue from this Mission is anticipated to be from licensing masters, sub-publishing, neighbouring rights, and touring opportunities and through new sources of revenue from digital and mobile content. The CIMA Music Mission to Japan is presented with the assistance of the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo, the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (GOA), the Department of Canadian Heritage (MEC), the Ontario Media Development Corporation. CIMA would like to thank all our export partners and supporters including Astral, AVLA, Canadian Music Week, Harvard Broadcasting, FACTOR, Radio Starmaker Fund, and SOCAN. In just under two weeks, CIMA will be heading up a Music Mission to Japan, the second largest music market in the world. Previous missions have generated a total of 170 deals and $3 Million in new business for the Canadian music industry, and the upcoming four-day program is expected to add significantly to both these figures.
In total, 15 companies and 8 artists from Canada will join CIMA on the mission. Seminars, showcases, networking opportunities and the OMDC Marketplace will create international opportunities for all involved, in addition to fostering and strengthening business relationship between delegates in the Canadian and Japanese markets. CIMA acknowledges our ongoing partnership with the Embassy of Canada to Japan (Tokyo) as well as the support and collaboration of the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC), the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (through GOA) and Canadian Music Week. CIMA also gratefully acknowledges the generous support of our Canadian partners and sponsors: Audio-Video Licensing Agency Inc. (AVLA), the Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings (FACTOR), the Government of Canada (through MEC/Canadian Heritage), Harvard Broadcasting, the Radio Starmaker Fund, and the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN). The Japanese music market offers many potential opportunities for Canadian music companies. Find out more...
